Let the University of Guelph Improve your Life

At the University of Guelph, we strive to Improve Life through research, knowledge and experiential learning. We consistently make efforts to improve our programs, services and facilities so that our students, faculty and staff are empowered to improve life for those around them. Learn more about how we are improving sustainability and lowering emissions on our news page.

We improve education by making our undergraduate degrees flexible. Here, you’re never “stuck” in a program. We make it easy to switch majors or add minors and certificates to tailor your degree to your interests.

Want to improve our environment and learn more about land resources? We have degrees for that! Want to improve human or animal health? We’ve got you covered there, too! Explore our Majors by Theme to discover our programs and figure out what interests you the most.

We improve your learning by ensuring that you’re not just completing a degree; you’re preparing for a career. Experiential learning opportunities are available to all U of G students. From co-operative education to volunteer experiences and field courses, our Experiential Learning Hub is here to set you up for success. Through experiential learning you will:

  • Develop transferable knowledge, skills, and attitudes sought by employers
  • Establish professional networks
  • Explore and confirm career options and direction
  • Apply disciplinary theory in real-world contexts
  • Tailor learning to meet individual personal, academic, and career goals
  • Gain references for employment or further education applications

Visit recruitguelph.ca to learn more about how co-op works and how to apply.

Tip: Admission Services recommends that if you are interested in a co-op program that you apply to the co-op stream straight from high school!

We improve our community by supporting you as a student, and after you graduate as an alumnus. The Hub Incubator Program (The Hub) run by the John F. Wood Centre for Business and Student Enterprise offers your support to help you grow or begin a start-up company. The Hub provides access to office space, experienced entrepreneurs, and funding opportunities to help you bring your business idea to life.

Amazing things happen here! U of G is home to some of the world’s leading researchers. We receive $182 million in annual research funding: more than any other university in Canada without a medical school! From forecasting Bitcoin, to treating pets with cannabis, the effect of wildfires in the arctic, and the discovery of meat-eating plants in Ontario, our faculty are in the news, contributing prominent research, working with students and improving life. Learn more on our Office of Research website.

Hungry? U of G campus food is consistently ranked #1 among Canadian universities. Our chefs use fresh, local ingredients from regional farmers, producers and partners; and with over 20 dining facilities on campus, they have all your food choices covered.

We’re committed to producing high quality campus food through sustainable practices to reduce food waste and benefit the community.

We take pride in making sure our food is responsible and sustainable. MealCare, an organization founded by students Kiana Gibson and Savid Sahai, is committed to reducing food waste and insecurity in local communities. MealShare student volunteers take high-quality U of G Hospitality food and redistribute it to need-based organizations in the community. Since its formation, MealCare’s partnership with U of G Hospitality has donated 14,163 pounds of food to the local community!
