New VanArts Campus Prepares Students for a Booming Industry

The stories keep coming. Studios keep expanding. Jobs are booming NOW in Animation, VFX, Video Games, Web, Tech, and Digital Media…all things taught at Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (VanArts).

For nearly three decades, VanArts has trained thousands of students from around the world. This summer they officially opened a brand new, purpose-built campus one block away from Science World. VanArts occupies the entire 7th floor at 333 Terminal Avenue, with all its one-year diploma programs offered in the same space.

The creative community is buzzing everyday with students collaborating and forming lifelong friendships across all departments: Animation, Game Art & Design, Visual Effects, Professional Photography, Web Development & Design, and Acting for Film & Television. Being trained by industry professionals in the beautiful False Creek neighborhood, it’s a great place to be for the next generation of VanArts.

In one year, VanArts students become job-ready graduates, ready to enter an industry that is hiring at unprecedented levels. Vancouver is the world’s largest cluster of animation & VFX studios, and a major hub for video games, web, tech, & film production. There are over 40,000+ jobs in digital entertainment, and the industry saw 40% growth in 2021 to over $4.8 billion.

Studios like WETA Digital, Framestore, Netflix, Electronic Arts, Industrial Light & Magic, and Walt Disney Animation are setting up shop and expanding their current operations in Vancouver. VanArts graduates are already working for these major companies, and others are starting their own creative businesses.

This is the time to get trained, get out there, and start working in a career doing something you love.
