About ECF:

The Education & Career Fair (ECF) is B.C.'s Largest Career Development Fair. This includes secondary students planning for higher education and exploring career options; young adults looking to transfer their work experience & skills to a different industry. The event is free to attend and designed to help create an experience for students to start to cultivate and reflect on their future career pathway options.

Since 1996, ECF has worked hard in the aim of facilitating connections that drive career decisions and inspire growth for individuals and organizations in an evolving economy and job market. At ECF, you can get access to a wide range of information about pivotal career and life development skills.  You will also be able to experience one-on-one interactions with experts from different educational fields, to gather information about career exploration and newest employment standards, to gain access to resources for student health and wellness, skills training, on-campus residences life, tuition, scholarships, grants requirements, and several other key topics.

ECF is today proud to be recognized by Business in Vancouver as "Top Trade Shows in the Lower Mainland".

In addition to partnering with industry leaders, we have also aligned ourselves with another essential leader in education, myBlueprint.  Together, we have designed assignments for students to manage with the support of their teacher. These assignments were created with teachers to help students further enhance a positive experience with maneuvering throughout the platform as well as reflecting on their future career and educational goals.

ECF Live Day Program:

ECF has also focused on developing a robust program that will truly engage students. This year we revised the program to reflect two different types of presentations, below describes each one.  Each 15-minute presentation will be pre-recorded and followed by a live chat component (no sound or audio).  This interactive session will permit students to ask useful questions to experienced professionals which will further help them along their career pathways.

Real Talk – Students will hear from recent graduates from varying career pathways on how they prepared themselves to get into a particulainstitution, what pre-requisite courses they took, and how they stayed focused on their program to successfully graduate.

Professional Point Of  View – Students will get the opportunity to learn from leaders in different industries about a day in the life, what they have done to further their career, industry trends as well as future goals.

Live Chat: ECF management will be monitoring the live chat and will be able to delete inappropriate messages during the Q&A and can also moderate it. Therefore, questions will be approved before they are displayed in the chat.

Sample day:  Educators and students can log in to the platform on live days to navigate throughout the site at their desired time, for example during Career Class.  The program is still being built, however, to have an idea of the program flow, please CLICK HERE.

MyBlueprint Partnership:

ECF and myBlueprint partnered together to help attendees get the most out of the event by offering Pre-, During-, and Post Assignments. These assignments help encourage students to engage with representatives by asking relevant questions as well on reflect on their future career possibilities.

How does ECF benefit our students?

  1. Increasing student’s confidence when leveraging their future career options and integrating with the real world.
  2. Connecting with leading institutions across Canada. Representatives aiding with course advice, internships, and admission requirements.
  3. Obtaining resources and expert advice from industry leaders. Participating in an array of educational workshops by experts with in-depth knowledge on varying career pathways.
  4. Learning practical tips to support post-secondary transition. Experience unique 1-on-1 interactions that lead to career-changing discoveries at ECF.
  5. Participating in the myBlueprint assignments facilitates reflection on post-secondary selection process.

Registration Process for Educators and Students:

We listened to the feedback from our stakeholders and worked diligently to ensure an easy and streamlined process for registration.

Anyone wishing to attend ECF can register using the following link https://educationcareerfairs.vfairs.ca/en/registration-form. Once at the website, visitors will be asked if they are a teacher, student or other and then will be asked some registration questions.  The registration details are collected and maintained solely on the virtual platform – vFairs which is stored only in Canada.

Once registration is completed, applicants will be sent a confirmation email with login information to the virtual platform.

*Registration form subject to change.

Educator Platform Interaction Options:

Teaching is not a one size fits all approach; therefore, to maintain a flexible work structure for educators, they will have two options when signing up his/her class for the fair:

  • Educator led group class interactive experience. This option simply requires only the teacher to register only their self, log in on the live day of the virtual fair and guide the class through the platform; therefore sharing a screen.
  • Educator monitored and student led interactive experience. This option requires both the educator and student to register and log in on the live days of the virtual fair.  Students will navigate independently through the platform.

Both options still incorporate the option to use myBlueprint as a reinforcement tool to further support each students’ experience with learning more about their career pathways.

Platform Privileges:

Attendees will be able to access the platform one week prior to the live day virtual fair.  During that time one can preview the exhibitors, start to complete their myBlueprint assignments and practice how to navigate the site. Note, there will be no active communications between attendees and exhibitors during the preview week.

During the live days, attendees will be able to visit exhibitor booths and live chat directly with the booth representatives and/or leave a message. There will be no video nor audio chat permitted.  Also, attendees will not have access to chat with another attendee during the active times on the platform.

As another safety measure, ECF has taken the initiative to ensure the certain inappropriate words cannot be used and will be automatically blocked should someone try and type in the chat field. ECF fosters a safe and respectful space among attendees.
