Thank you for your interest in attending the virtual Education & Career Fairs 2020-2021. As you know, this year has been marked by continued changes and our team has been working tirelessly to transition to the new virtual environment and turning challenges into new opportunities to bring value to students and exhibitors attending our fairs.

One of the latest changes from most school districts across BC is the transition from a traditional 2-semester format to a 4-quarter format (each lasting approximately 10 weeks) during the school year calendar. The dates shown below may not be the same for each district.

  • 1st Quarter: Sept. 8 to Nov. 13
  • 2nd Quarter: Nov. 16 to Jan. 29
  • 3rd Quarter: Feb. 1 to Apr. 16
  • 4th Quarter: Apr. 19 to Jun. 25

What implications does this change have for students and exhibitors?
For students: For most secondary schools, in each quater, there will be only 25% of the student base enrolled in career planning classes and therefore able to experience ECF Virtual.

For exhibitors: Unless the fair dates are adjusted, with this change, only students in Quarter 2 would attend virtual ECF, and exhibitors would only have an outreach to 25% of the total student base.

What do we need to do?
After discussing these changes with the school districts, it has been decided to change the dates for ECF and give access to more students per fair. We will host 2 ECF fairs per quarter starting in Quarter 2, so exhibitors have more traffic and more students will be able to experience ECF and connect with exhibiting organizations. In order to not leave out students from Quarter 1, we will give them access to the fairs in Quarter 2.

The fairs will be concentrated in two regions:
a) Western BC (Including Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Vancouver Coast), and
b) Eastern BC (including Surrey, the Fraser Valley, the Interior, and Northern BC).

What does this mean for current exhibitors?

After much discussion with school districts across the province, we feel that this is the best way to reach the highest number of potential students. For all exhibitors that have selected regional fairs, we will be connecting with you individually to discuss how these changes may affect you, and what the best strategy is moving forward.

We thank you for your patience during these challenging times and your support of ECF. If you have any concerns at this time, please do not hesitate to reach out.
